Serial killers are people, who have killed more than two people over a specified time period. These killers have always caught the attention of the public for their cruel acts. A general belief about these killers is that they themselves are victims of crimes. However, many popular serial killers have been found to be educated, hailing from decent families. 

Studies done by psychologists show that there is always more than a single reason for people to become serial killers; however, the main factors can be physical, psychological, and spiritual. Sexual drive in these people has been observed as a fairly common and dominant trait that leads to their anomalous and violent behavior.

Serial killers are broadly classified into three categories by the Federal Bureau of Investigation: (i) Medical killers are those people, who get involved in such acts in hospitals or medical care centers, as they feel that they can get away easily because of the victim's already bad health condition; 

(ii) Organized killers are the most intelligent ones, who carry out their acts after proper planning; and (iii) Disorganized killers carry out acts in the heat of the moment. They are generally diagnosed with a low IQ and as antisocial people.
