Gifted to the world on 26th August 1910, Mother Teresa (Agnesë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu) was born to Nikollë and Drana Bojaxhiu, in Skopje, capital of the Republic of Macedonia. Right from the tender age of 12, Agnes felt a strong urge to commit herself to a religious life.

Being determined in her thought, she left home when she was 18, to join the Sisters of Loreto. That was the last time she saw her family.

On 24th May 1931, Agnes took her first vows, and it was at this time when she chose to adopt the name 'Teresa'. She served as a teacher at the Loreto Convent school, Calcutta (now Kolkata). There she took her solemn vows on 14th May 1937. What followed, may be known to most, but not describable in a few words.

Mother Teresa was and still, is the embodiment of kindness, love and all what God wants his followers to live their life with. 5th September 1997, was the day when this great lady bid farewell to the world to join the heavenly abode.
