George Washington was the first President and also one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He was appointed to his first public office in 1749.
In 1775, he was chosen to be the Commander-in-chief of the American Revolutionary Forces. He became the President of the United States in 1789, and held the post till 1797. Till date, he is known as the greatest president the US has ever had.
